11 held in Defence incident

KARACHI - Police have arrested eleven persons into custody after the shootout which killed five persons including grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti, SP Clifton, Tariq Dharejo said Sunday.

The incident occurred at a Defence Khayaban-e-Rahat party during a feud that arose resulting in the firing here.

SP Clifton, Tariq Dharejo said that eleven persons have been taken into custody from the Bungalow, while the process of registration of the case was underway.

Police said that a function was being held at a Bungalow on street VII Khayaban-e-Rahat in Defence area here, where over fifty persons were invited, but some youths hailing from Balochistan arrived there with more guests, whom entrance into the Bungalow was regretted that arose a dispute leading to blows and finally gun shooting from bothe sides.

A rumpus was let loose spoiling the party. As a result of the firing four persons died on the spot and ten persons including Akbar Bugti’s grandson Talay Bugti were wounded, who were shifted to the hospital for medical aid, where Talay Bugti succumbed to the injuries.

Others among the dead included Kamrn Shafi, Doctor Iqbal, Mark Joseph and Kamran Gul, while wounded were Zeeshan 28, Ziauddin 19, Zahid Fazal 27, Faraz Amir 22, Irfan Adnan 33, Qamruddin 30, Shahbaz Habib 30, Bilal Arshad 25, and Essa Jalaluddin 28.

Postmortem of the bodies were conducted in Jinnah Hospital.
